Three questions about finishing the cockpit...
  1. Can anyone recommend a fire extinguisher and location to mount it?
  2. I’ve rolled WLS epoxy primer on the inside of the canopy frame.  I’d
like to spray matt speckled or textured paint so the imperfections aren’t so
obvious.  Any recommendations, preferably in spray can?
  3. I mounted a Bob Archer XPDR antenna on the fuselage side behind the hat
rack.  The XPDR is a Garmin 327.  Can anyone confirm they’re getting
good performance with this antenna location?  I’m close enough to Houston
HOU and IAH and plan to fly in Class B airspace so I can’t get away with an
intermittent signal.   I have an old stubby antenna that I could
easily mount under the stub wing on the opposite side to the pitot head, but
no point in moving it unless I have to (though it’s an easier job now than a
few hours into the flight test program).
Thanks in advance...

Regards, Chris.

Chris,

Try Zolatone for your interior painting, http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/cmpages/zolatonepaint.php?clickkey=9130.  It doesn’t come in spray cans but it’s great stuff.

Chris--

I mounted a 1.3 lb. H3R
FIRE EXTINGUISHER MODEL A344T
fire extinguisher on the cockpit
floor just in front of the main spar on the passenger side. It's
easily reachable from the pilot seat.

For my cockpit interior, I used about a quart of Zolatone
"Apollo Gray". It's very durable, but I don't believe it comes in
spray cans. The Zolatone paint sorta' has chunks in it, which
splatter on the surface. You'll have to fiddle with your spray gun
to get it to spray correctly with the "chunky" paint. You can see
the "Apollo Gray" color in this photo where I was bonding my
transponder antenna on the right side of the baggage bulkhead. (I'll
let you know how it works after my first flight in a few weeks). I
would have placed the antenna where you did but my VOR antenna is on
the ceiling of the baggage area and I didn't want them to interfere.
