TIT replacement probe selection

Forums:

Looking for guidance on which probe this is, which is a good replacement.
TSIO-550-E with Garretts.
It drives Chelton data, possibly through an intermediate device.

The original was destroyed upon removal due to it swelling.

You most certainly have a GRT

You most certainly have a GRT engine monitor as an intermediate for engine monitoring that then forwards data to the Chelton IDU's.   I had to deep six the Cheltons and now have G3X's but still use the GRT monitor and display the information on my VP200.    I'm interested in TIT replacement also.   Neither of my TIT's are reading correctly.   One was working ok until a few flights ago and now is not reading.   The other one never did work and replacing probes never has solved the problem.   Brad Simmons replaced one of them a few years ago saying I had an EGT probe in the TIT spot.   I don't know if his people ever tested it, but from the time I started the engine to return home it functioned no better than the one that was in before.   I suspect wiring or the monitor but don't really have smarts to test.   Anyone know of someone in Pac NW who is a whiz on this and could help???  Jon H, could you troubleshoot and make it work?

Dave,

Dave,

The probe used to be sold by Vision Microsystems, now absorbed by JP Instruments in California.  It is a K-type thermocouple, listed on their website JPinstruments.com under tab with products > Sensors & probes as a TIT 7/16-20 screw in type probe. I am available to help you troubleshoot the problem, as I have considerable experience with engine monitors and electronics in general.  I live in South Western Oregon.  Please call me at 541-727-2162…Jeff.

Thanks Jeff,

Thanks Jeff,

No particular problem at this time; just an engine replacement.

Hi Dave,

Hi Dave,

Yes, that is the correct probe and it does come with the red and yellow K-type thermocouple wire.  My last name is Nielsen…Jeff.
