LOBO is pleased to announce that the next LOBO Landing will take place in Asheville, North Carolina from Thursday, October 6 through Saturday, October 8, 2022. We are planning an event which will provide our members with the opportunity to meet in a beautiful setting. The Blue Ridge mountains are famous for their fall foliage, and Asheville is home base an exploration of this scenic area. The Asheville airport has agreed to host our group; the host hotel is the Asheville Hilton Biltmore Park. We were able to negotiate a great rate for this popular time of year at $199 per night. The hotel was completely remodeled in 2018, and is located in a shopping and entertainment district only minutes from the airport and about fifteen minutes from the quaint downtown area of Asheville. Known for artists, and music, Asheville offers a diverse array of entertainment, from art galleries and unique shopping, to rock climbing and mountain biking. LOBO is planning a welcome reception on Wednesday evening at the Sierra Nevada brewery, as well as an optional tour to the Biltmore Estate on Sunday after the conference.
We have heard from many of our members that you would like extra time during the conference for flight training, or sightseeing, so we will try and arrange our sessions to offer ample opportunity to accomplish this. We need your help. If any of you can offer some time to organize events, recruit sponsors, and find auction items. these are much needed to make the meeting costs reasonable for everyone. Proceeds from sponsors and the auction benefit all LOBO members, so please think about how you can help make this Landing the best one yet.
In October of 2021, we will have the reservation system set up with the Hilton, and you can reserve your rooms. As always, we recommend early planning to get the best rates. Your reservation also helps us plan the size of the meeting. Please feel free to contact Sandy Gainza, LOBO Director of Events, with questions, suggestions. or to volunteer to help. We look forward to sharing more details as they develop.
