LOBO Landing 2022 registration is now open, CLICK HERE! Please note that Early Bird pricing will be extended to MONDAY, AUGUST 22 but we encourage you to sign up and reserve your room now.
Here are the details:
Arrivals Wednesday, October 5 all day at the Asheville Airport (KAVL). Signature Flight Support is the local FBO. They can arrange rental cars from Enterprise and National. They will escort you to parking and transport you from the ramp to the FBO. When you sign up, please let us know what day and time you plan to arrive, so that we can assist with transportation if necessary to the Hilton Asheville Biltmore Park where the meeting will be held or to the welcome reception Wednesday afternoon. We will have LOBO volunteers at the FBO to greet you and provide your registration materials. LOBO has rented two seven passenger vans for the week to assist in transportation to and from the airport.
We plan to have an informal no-host gathering Wednesday afternoon at the Sierra Nevada Brewery Taproom. We will meet on the patio in back. The brewery is just across the highway from the airport. There is a restaurant there and we encourage you to make reservations if you plan to stay on at the brewery for dinner. It is a very popular spot!
The program will begin early Thursday morning with presentations by LOBO, several flight instructors, as well as your keynote speaker Gary Reeves. There will be a Partner in Command session Thursday morning. Lunch will be served at the Hilton. The meeting will adjourn at 2 p.m. and activities will continue at the Asheville airport with the Partner in Command in-aircraft training, a ramp walk, and a BBQ dinner catered by a local restaurant.
Friday morning, the ground school will continue until noon. Lunch will be at the Hilton. After lunch, you can choose flight training if you have arranged that with your instructor, or enjoy the sights of Asheville. Friday night is the LOBO Banquet and Silent Auction at the Hilton.
Saturday morning will be a working breakfast, with the final ground school session and the LOBO annual meeting and election of officers. At 11 am, those who sign up for the Biltmore Estate tour will depart. This tour is an extra cost item and includes entry to the estate, a timed ticket entry to the Biltmore mansion, and a three course lunch at the Stable Cafe. We hope you choose to spend your weekend either on the tour or on your own exploring this amazing area and the beautiful fall colors.
For our Lancair Flygirls: Judy Pastusek is in the planning stages of creating some special events for you. Please check back here for updates. If you would like to be on her email list, please contact her at judypas26 [at] hexial.net.
We have a special rate at the Hilton, $199 per night, which is very reasonable for this location at this time of year. The block is limited, and we encourage you to make your reservations early HERE.
