In the pilots narrative, he does admit to landing too far down the runway and being unfamiliar with the field. He landed after dark and (presumably), was not prepared to go around. Looks like perhaps the mechanic who inspected the aircraft claimed partial brake failure.
Whenever I check out a new airline Captain, I always make sure to tell him that he actually makes more money if he goes around than if he lands. That normally solves any apprehension of conducting go arounds …..
