FAA Launches Fly Safe Campaign for GA

faa_logoFAA Deputy Administrator Mike Whitaker announced a new safety initiative at Frederick Municipal Airport, Frederick, MD, during the AOPA Fly-In on Saturday, June 6. Dubbed the "Fly Safe Campaign," Whitaker said the FAA in conjunction with the GA Joint Safety Committee, of which LOBO is a participating organization, aims to prevent loss-of-control (LOC) accidents this upcoming flying season.

During the Campaign, the FAA will focus on a new topic related to LOC each month, beginning this month with AOA indicators. As you may remember, LOBO lobbied the FAA to recommend the installation of an AOA indicator in high-performance experimental aircraft. The FAA took that a step further, making it easier to install an AOA in any light aircraft, even the certified variety.
