Kim Lorentzen and I decided to do something a little different for our Lancair customers in 2016: we put together a “Lancair & Friends Cruise.” There were 41 Lancairians in total, and oh what a wonderful time we had! From our dinners together, shore adventures, Lancair sponsored meetings and receptions, I truly don’t think anyone walked away without a smile on their face ready for the next adventure.

GroupCruiseWe started our trip on May 21st out of Galveston, TX, with the first two days cruising at sea. We held an informal LOBO/Lancair meeting on Monday with presentations from Kim and Robert from Lancair, with Bob Pastusek speaking on behalf of LOBO. After arriving at our first port in Jamaica we heard a great presentation from Henry Bartle and his son Henson about their adventure ferrying an ES from Hawaii to Australia. While docked everyone enjoyed lots of different activities, from zip lining in the jungle to just touring the city.

Our next stop was beautiful Grand Cayman. There, we toured a turtle farm and took a boat out to a beautiful sandbar called Stingray City where visitors may snorkel with a large school of Atlantic Stingrays.

Our last stop was Cozumel, Mexico. A few of us loaded onto a bus to tour the Mayan ruins of Tulum. Our last day at sea saw the return to Galveston. Overall the experience was wonderful; I know I wasn’t ready for the trip to end! We had a fantastic time visiting with everyone. We met some great new people, made lots of great new memories and reconnected with many long time Lancair customers.
